Early this afternoon I heard what I believe to be the loud and insistent
calls of a Red-shouldered Hawk. I did not have time to stay and get a
visual confirmation unfortunately, but I can't think of a plausible
alternative.
Mecklenburg Cemetery is a little tricky to find. I didn't even know it

Today 2 Sept 2013, about 1330 h, a red-shouldered hawk circled over Ithaca
Country Club and Pleasant Grove Cemetery, calling loudly. It disappeared to the
east across the golf course.
Lighting was not with me and my view of the bird was brief, but the underparts
were light, not reddish, so I

Hi all,
After feeling sad about the non-return of the Red Shouldered Hawk that has
fished (salamandered?) our pond for so many years, I am now feeling happy
because he has returned! And, i just watched as he caught a salamander, then
flew off with it in his talons. Pretty sure it's the same on
