At 3:25 this afternoon while sitting at the kitchen table, a movement outside caught my eye. It was a SHORT EARED OWL hunting in the pasture next to my house (hall road) on the south side. We got great views of it hunting (tho a little blurry thru my husbands bins since mine are on their way to nikon for repair- ugh!) . It would hover in one place four 4 or 5 seconds then either dive or move to another vantage point often sitting on a roadside fence post. We had great views from the second floor and watched until he flew west at around 3:40. I was just getting ready to go for a drive to look for owls and this one came to me!
Juncos have arrived at the feeder and snow buntings are here too. Good birding!
