[cayugabirds-l] Slaty-backed Gull
Yesterday, at about 3 PM, David Wheeler reported an adult slaty-backed gull on the ice above lock 6 in Oswego. I haven't seen any news on its presence either way today. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Slaty-backed Gull candidate - Oswego
Jim and I studied the bird extensively and thought it was a Slaty-backed. We saw it fly briefly but in a swirling mass of gulls and wingtips. I thought I could see the "string of pearls" but can't be sure. -conspicuous bubble-gum pink legs -proper back and wing color darker than LBBG but slightly paler than GBBG -obvious white "skirt" -proper size, too large for LBBG and too small for GBBG -proper eye color I won't go through all the reasons it's not a Lesser BB Gull or Great BB Gull. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22183060@N08/sets/72157632885966646/ Dave Wheeler N Syracuse, NY -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
