Hi all,
There’s a small group of Surf Scoters on Dryden Lake, including 2 beautiful
males. Also: Long-tailed Duck, Common Merganser, Bufflehead, and Scaup (Lesser,

Hi again,
There is now an overall brownish duck hanging out with the 2 Surf Scoters and 3
Ruddy Ducks on Dryden Lake. It is a bit longer than the Scoters. I know this is
a long shot, but it reminds me of a King Eider. Hopefully others will take a
look and weigh in.

This morning two female-type SURF SCOTERS are hanging out just off the
point at Myers. Otherwise it's quiet on the lake.

Sunday, about 10 am, East Shore park, I spotted what I thought was a pair of
white-winged scoters far off shore to the north west. I noticed an oval white
spot on the back of the male's head. With the help of a birder from NW Pa., I
learned that they were SURF SCOTERS.
There were dozens of
Six female-type SURF SCOTERS just landed in the bay at Myers Point.
Otherwise pretty quiet here. Laughing Gull present.
