Two magnificent Northern pintails were seen on Factory pond on 3/7/19, diving along with many mallards, gadwall, wigeons & a couple canvasbacks, buffles & golden-eye.  Many birds are on Mill pond along Rte. 90 but light has been wrong for me to see what.

I saw a GBH at the boat launch with many Canadas. The GBH seems to have been hanging around all winter.

This report is delayed but on Thurs. 3/7/19, Becky & I were looking at several obvious male A. wigeons in breeding plumage. A couple had more white on the wings/sides than we thought was usual but one had a very impressive amount of white, much more than the others. We tried to think of what other duck might have mated with a wigeon to get so much pure white & came up empty-handed. Hopefully someone else has seen them. She sent several photos to Dave Nutter & Bob McGuire.  Dave thought there was an abnormal amount of white in the flight feathers but even the white shoulder feathers were bright & flashy.

This evening, we were pleased after 2 yrs. of drought, to have seen 2 short-eared owls at 7:03 p.m.. Becky got a good picture even in the dark, foggy conditions. To save harassment of the owls, the location is not given.

Last evening we saw several good sized flocks of robins on local back roads. Horned larks are still along the side roads picking up gravel. I must remember to put some sand for the birds near my feeders both for bird baths & for needed grit to eat when it's snowy or icy.

The beautiful little skunk comes nearly every night to get food scraps. Hopefully the red fox is getting some, too.
