[cayugabirds-l] common grackles

2020-10-07 Thread Laura Stenzler
After it rained leaves, then hail this afternoon, we now have Common Grackles
raining down on the bird feeders. 50+ birds - quite noisy and quite hungry!

[cayugabirds-l] Common Grackles

2009-12-18 Thread Linda Orkin
I was surprised to see a flock of about 6 Common Grackles at my
feeders this morning looking pretty miserable and hopping from foot to
foot on the snow covered branches. They were so fluffed up that their
whole profile was much rounder and shorter than normal.

On the other hand, the Juncos look so comfortable and snug even as
they forage in snow that totally obscures them except for little peeks
at the crowns of their heads while they are hop scratching.

Enjoy!!

Don't forget, we need help for the Christmas Bird Count. (Especially
need coverage for lake birds, we have really no one as yet!)

Linda
