RE: [cayugabirds-l] egrets

2021-08-27 Thread Muhammad Arif
I was just at Ithaca Falls and I can confirm they are Great Egrets. One was at
the base of the falls, the other two up on the gorge wall on the north side
farther away from the falls. The one from the base flew over to one of the
egrets, they had a little squabble and all three remained on the wall. Every
once in a while, one would fly down to the water lever and search for food.

Pretty cool to watch wildlife so close to home. (I live two blocks from Ithaca
Falls)

Other observers reported three Great Egrets (the much more expected species,
black legs with yellow bills) at this location last night. Interesting spot for
them, so cool observation.

That is an interesting spot. I wonder what effect abundant rain and water flow
might have had on this spot that perhaps made it more attractive and lured them
there.

[cayugabirds-l] egrets yesterday

2013-04-07 Thread Candace Cornell
Yesterday, while scanning the lake from the Wells College Boathouse, I saw
two white egrets flying south, down the lake. Unfortunately, they were too
far away for me to get an ID, although I suspect they were Great Egrets.
Has anyone seen any egrets in the basin this year?
Candace
