I birded the Von Englen preserve Sunday afternoon. I saw a few interesting
things.
Just as I was starting, where the two trails branch off, I saw a thrush. I'm
pretty sure it was a SWAINSON'S THRUSH. It had buffy cheeks and eye ring, and
it wasn't one of the more common thrushes.

I heard a PILEATED call out once. I also saw SAPSUCKER, FLICKER, TOWHEE,
CATBIRD, and a flock of ROBINS. I also saw one warbler, bluish gray on top,
yellow and
white underneath. I saw a yellow spot on its back. My guess is PARULA WARBLER.
