A hot walk up the mountain this morning turned up the following: 2 American Kestrels (there have usually been 4 up there of late) Assorted Bobolinks in various spots flying and landing in the long grass 2 Eastern Kingbirds Numerous Barn Swallows 12 Cedar Waxwings feeding on black cherry fruits 2 Indigo Bunting fledglings warming up in the sun Ditto several Common Yellowthroat female/young
Also, late postings (sorry): I've been hearing Common Ravens up here every day And, at the Women Swimmin' event at the Ithaca Yacht Club on the west side of Cayuga Lake on Saturday morning: A flock of 25 or so Purple Martins, mostly perching on the high rigging on a large moored sail boat, occasionally taking to the air to swirl around.
