I'm surprised I have seen one before now, but there is a YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKER tapping and flying around in the woods just south of the main
entrance at the Lab of Ornithology at Sapsucker Woods.
Not too much of note on Dryden Lake this morning, but 4 COMMON LOONS and two
HORNED GREBES were
Shortly after 9am I was walking in the big field east of the Lab of O and south of NYS-13 the airport. I did not see or hear any Swamp Sparrows or Virginia Rails or Eastern Meadowlarks, only traffic. I did venture under the power lines briefly where I flushed an immature BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON

After long time I took lunch walk in Mundy WFG. I did find a cute GOLDEN
CROWNED KINGLET, with his middle yellow line on the head flared and shining
golden in the over head sun. There was also an Eastern Phoebe. In the Comstock
Knoll, I heard a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, a few more Golden
