Things were fairly quiet, but when I arrived at 8:15, the sun was out and
there were at least 6 TENNESSEE WARBLERS singing in the vicinity of the
northeast corner. Shortly after that, it clouded up and the Tennessees fell
silent for the most part.

Jeff Gerbracht reports BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was still at Myers up until
about 10 minutes ago when a dog walker scared the birds and it headed
north. Seems to be sticking around though, so it will probably be back.

Heard some strange high pitched calls and crow drama...looked up to see two
adult Bald Eagles in the snag by the lowest cow pasture. Never seen them
here at home before! Took photos to prove to husband. (Miller Farm, Hinman
Rd, Summerhill) we only have a trickle of a creek, don't know what they
When I arrived about 830-845 there were no gulls on the Myers spit but some on
the lighthouse jetty. I waited for about half an hour and the gulls filtered
back in from breakfast and settled on the spit. Reexamining them several times
(as more arrived), I thought I had the Kittiwake when I
As I watched more and more birds arrived. At one point there were a dozen
TVs, a raven, masses of crows, a Red-Tailed Hawk and the one remaining Bald
Eagle. They were alternating dipping into the pasture where a calf was born
yesterday. The Bald Eagle flew off with the lions share of a gob of
The kittiwake is sitting on a light post by the lighthouse at Myers.

:) That was me. I was at that corner from 8:15 until close to 10. It was just
too fun to leave. At one point, I had both the Wilson's and a Tennessee in my
binocs (which bird to watch first?). I kept thinking about leaving, but
something would pop up. Even if I had seen it before, it was
This afternoon Bob, Susan, Ann, Stuart and myself enjoyed looking at shore
birds on Carncross Rd. including Peeps, Semipalmated Plover, American Golden
Plover, Black-bellied Plover and many Dunlin. A pair of Sandhill Cranes were in
the far NW corner of the field leading around a pair of too
I am very pleased to announce that the two local osprey nests, which were
both potential fire hazards built on light poles, have been saved for the
season and one permanently. On Monday, NYSEG was able to move the Union
Fields near Cass Park osprey nest onto a riser without disturbing the
birds,
Hi everyone,
Apologies for my late posting, but I only now had a chance to scan through a
large number of recordings of singing warblers, and concluded that there was
either a Golden-winged or Brewster's Warbler on Hammond Hill this morning. The
bird was heard by me, Scott Haber, and Brad
Hi again everyone,
I just realized that my description of the warbler's location was not quite
correct. When I wrote about turning left at the T-intersection this was
correct. However, by turning left you would remain on the trail Yellow 1. It
is only if you incorrectly turned right that you
I didn't get over to the Hawthorn Orchard until later this afternoon.
Pleasantly cooperative mixed flock found with some effort. Minimal singers,
with the exception of the Tennessee Warblers. Alder Flycatcher was about on
time, first of the season for me.
Good birding!
Sincerely,

On Tuesday I saw the new nest platform at Cass Park as well as the 2 Ospreys,
which circled around but did not land on it during the brief time I watched. Is
there any evidence that they have accepted the disruption/change? Are the
sticks in the platform the actual nest which was on the light
I've checked several times this week and they appear to be having no
problems that I detected. I'll look again tomorrow (Sunday). Thank you for
bringing that up.
