Keep forgetting to post. Saw 7 Am. wigeon on Mill Pond on Thurs. morning, 29 Sept. 2016. First since spring.
Last I looked, the Mill pond sign put up by the scout still had the green heron listed as a pileated woodpecker. I had seen wood ducks & babies on Factory pond numerous times through the summer. Man across the street said this was the_first yr. ever_, in his 40 yrs. living there, that he had seen woodies actually nest there ... & successfully raise young without a snapper getting them. Two females ... one had 4 , the other 5. Last I saw the young, they were almost adult size. Fritzie B.
