Yesterday morning, after 38 days of incubation, the first osprey egg at Salt Point hatched. I suspect there are two more eggs on the way, but it is purely a guess. The Baltimore Orioles around the osprey platform serenaded the new chick and it was a wonderful day at the point.
I would like to sincerely thank everyone who kept an eye out for the first osprey egg and all the osprey nests in the basin. We are very fortunate to have such a great generous group of birders willing to help each other.
