[cayugabirds-l] Grackles galore

2019-08-27 Thread Donna Lee Scott
For 2 days I have had a flock of about 80 Common Grackles foraging under
feeders & elsewhere in my yard!

At first I thought they were Starlings until I looked more carefully & saw
their longer tails & different coloring.

[cayugabirds-l] grackles and red-wings

2018-02-22 Thread Linda Callahan
About 100 grackles and a few red-wings have landed in Newfield. Last
year they hit on the 23rd, so they're right on time. There goes all the
bird food.

[cayugabirds-l] Grackles Are Moving

2016-03-02 Thread bob mcguire
I just had a small flock of blackbirds - 25 Common Grackles and 5 Red-winged
Blackbirds - swing through the yard. They might have stopped at the feeder, but
the wind has blown all of the seed away!

[cayugabirds-l] Grackles

2015-04-17 Thread bob mcguire
I know it is not that exciting for most of you - but I just noticed a Grackle
carrying nest material into one of the conifers next to the house. I’ve had
them raising young (and recorded the juvenile begging calls) in past years. But
this is the first time I have noticed a nest site. I’m looking forward to
checking on progress.

And Eastern Towhees - are back, adding their songs to the broadening dawn
chorus.

[cayugabirds-l] Grackles flocking

2014-07-25 Thread Bill Mcaneny
About 8:30 this a.m. a flock of Common Grackles descended on the lawn behind
our house. Probably in the order of 200 birds. I didn't scan the whole
flock but there did not seem to be any other species mixed in. So, does
this mean the summer is over??

[cayugabirds-l] Grackles/Titmice

2012-02-23 Thread Sara Jane Hymes
As we stepped outside of our house briefly to check 'progress' of Belle
Sherman Cottages just a minute ago, we had a flock of 25-30 COMMON
GRACKLES fly over our house in a Northern direction. We also heard 2
TITMICE duetting (singing/responding) back and forth.
