I, too, spotted a Great Blue during our weekly raptor survey at the
Montezuma NWR yesterday. I asked it if it wanted to borrow my compass,
but it politely said no, it had learned how to both orient AND navigate
a few seasons back. (smile)

On a walk around Upper Buttermilk yesterday afternoon I was surprised to
see a GREAT BLUE HERON lift off and fly upstream from the marshy area at
Lake Treman. Don't see how it could find sufficient food there to
survive, much less just keep warm. Selfishly it would be nice to have
it stick

We just flushed a GREAT BLUE HERON from a small pond at the corner of Hall Road
and Munson Road in Interlaken. I suppose since the water has not frozen yet it
still has food available!

While checking Bluebird boxes on a golf course that runs next to a small
stream, I saw a Great Blue standing with something dark hanging from its mouth

Little late in posting, but day before yesterday I was very pleasantly

Co. Solid Waste/Recycling Center. I'm always amazed how they find

Amongst the Grackles, Robins and Redwings singing away this morning, a
GREAT BLUE HERON flew over East Ithaca Rec Way--Honness Lane. It must
mean that the waters are opening and crayfish/frogs becoming available.
Larry and I are on our way up the lake to see what other goodies we can
spot!
