I also saw my first Ithaca House Wren in the yard this afternoon, and soon

FOY House Wren arrived in our yard moments ago while a Carolina Wren,
Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Northern Flicker were calling from the
adjacent wood lot. The FOY BO that I reported a couple days ago finally
returned to the oriole feeder.

Yesterday I watched a Chickadee building a nest in a box hanging on a fence
near us. Today, just now, I looked out and saw a House Wren (first of the
year) busily tossing all the nesting materials out of the box. Is this usual
behavior? Do they usually clean house before taking over a nest box
At about 630 am, “the” house wren sang near our house for the first time in
2017. He was answered and it appears that there are now at least 2, possibly 3

Once House Wrens have fledged, and the parents want to start a second
brood, will they re-use their nest? Or should I clean out the nest box
for them to start fresh?
Thank you for any advice.

My House Wren has returned, singing up a storm. It must be quite disappointed
to see his normal home occupied by the House Sparrows. I put up a new house by
an evergreen it favors. Hope it will take.

Good morning,
Lots of singing out there this rainy Monday morning! The new yard bird for the
spring today is HOUSE WREN. THere is a single PINE SISKIN at the feeder with
the PURPLE FINCHES, and there are 4-5 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS singing in the
yard. No Rosebreasted Grosbeak (yet).
