[cayugabirds-l] Mt Pleasant American Kestrels
Hi Cayugabirders, The annual late-summer build-up of (presumably pre-migration) American Kestrels has begun on Mount Pleasant. I counted 11 kestrels yesterday afternoon, and saw at least 9 this afternoon. You can see them perched on the wires and utility poles along the dirt road to the large communication towers on the north side of Mt Pleasant Road. On breezy days they often hover over the fields before plunging down after prey. Wonderful to watch. [cayugabirds-l] Mt Pleasant American Kestrels - 10!
Hi all, Looks like American Kestrels are on the move...yesterday evening around 6:45 I counted 7 kestrels spread out on the wires along the road to the radio tower, and an additional 3 by the observatory (the latter group undoubtedly the local breeders that I've been seeing all summer), for a total of 10 birds.
