Hi all,
On my walk on Mt Pleasant Road this morning, around 11 I heard the drumming of
a Pileated Woodpecker echoing from deep in the woods on the south side of the
road. With the lengthening days, it won't be long before some of our other
winter residents start adding to the chorus. Maybe
Just heard a Pileated Woodpecker drumming several times in Ringwood Preserve.

A gorgeous male Pileated Woodpecker has been feeding at our suet feeder
several times a day for the last week or more. The feeder is only 15
feet from our kitchen window so we can watch him for several minutes at
a time. Last evening he was last here at 7pm after several visits during
the day
I am looking for a Pileated Woodpecker nest to photograph the activities
of these birds. If anyone knows the location of an active nest could you

As I walked south from my place an hour ago, I heard what I thought was the
call of a Northern Flicker. When I finally located the bird, it was a female
PILEATED WOODPECKER quietly calling while flapping awkwardly, trying to hang
onto flimsy grape vines while eating the wild grapes!

On Sat. when I went to my mailbox on North Sunset Drive Ithaca, I noticed that
my neighbors had a spotting scope aimed on a tree trunk. There were 2 Pileated
Woodpeckers scurrying up and down the tree. I was told that they had been there
for a least one hour. I got my binocs and watched for

just back of my house. He was tearing apart a pile of rotted logs that have
been there for years. He worked his way along the side and nearly under when
