Re:[cayugabirds-l] Glossy Ibis, Montezuma NWR

2011-07-23 Thread Jay McGowan
Sorry, I forgot to put the date for this report. This was yesterday (22
July 2011) morning. I look forward to hearing others' reports from the area
in coming days, if anyone braves the heat.

I just got the report from the volunteer counters at Montezuma NWR (Larue
St. Clair and Jackie Bakker). The report continuing good numbers of
shorebirds at Knox-Marsellus and Puddler marshes off Towpath and East roads
(Seneca County), including nearly 1000 peeps, several hundred yellowlegs,
dowitchers, and Pectoral Sandpipers. Additionally, they observed a GLOSSY
IBIS at Puddler Marsh, the second impoundment back on Towpath Road (off Mays
Point Road north of the canal.)

The ibis was seen Friday morning during Larue and Jackie's twice-a-week survey.

Thanks for the report, Jay. I know that Larue does not count every
day. Was the Ibis seen today (Saturday)?
