Important things here are a mixed background (not simply a Java
developer). Client likes diversity – Java, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc. Open
Source, as well. DevOps/Continuous Integration experience is a must.
Please see below.
- · Looking for 1 mid level and 1 senior level candidates
- · Prefer someone who is more a jack of all trades in multiple
languages (Java, Python, Ruby) than a specialist. They like people who are
flexible and can learn or what to learn more new technologies. They don’t
want purely Java Developers.
- · Definitely still want people with a DevOps or Agile background as
well as someone with experience in automation tools (Git, Jenkins, Puppet,
Chef).
- · They want to hire Full Stack Developers or at least people who have
that type of exposure or from that type of environment. Like people who
have experience in operations, development and QA, production, deployment.
- · Degree is important to them but not 100% necessary
- · Still not a fan of federal contractors and people who come from
rigid, siloed environments.
- · Personality, initiative, and ability to want to learn or learn on
their own new technologies will go a long way
- · Commercial company and can take anyone but they are not able to
sponsor.
*What will you do as a Software Developer?*
- · Deliver value to our customers and do everything necessary to
achieve this goal
- · Develop Services or Products as part of an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) team
- · Develop cross-browser web applications using HTML / HTML5 / CSS /
CSS3 / JavaScript / jQuery / AngularJS / KnockoutJS / Bootstrap
- · Write code (Golang), design, test and collaborate to get that code
into production
- · Automate everything from building (Gradle and Jenkins/Cloudbees),
testing (JUnit, Cucumber), and deploying (Chef, Puppet, Ansible) services
- · Work on Web and Mobile User Interfaces and REST APIs that connect to
SQL and noSQL databases
- · Work in Linux on Amazon Web Services
- · Measure health and performance of the services you help build
- · Continuously learn new concepts and technologies and share with your
team and the greater community
- · Leverage and contribute to evolving shared infrastructure
- · Make things better every day
*Qualifications/Education Requirement*
- · Four year degree in IT, Computer Science or related field OR
equivalent work experience
- · 2+ years experience developing enterprise software and services
- · Experience with general administration, configuration and
troubleshooting in Linux/UNIX, Apache/Nginx and MySQL/Postgres
- · Knowledge of Networking and the DNS protocol is preferred
- · Some nice to have experience, but not required, includes:
- Grunt and Bower for frontend package management
- Zend, Symfony, or similar MVC frameworks
- Test Driven Development and Security By Design principles
