I can confirm that as well, I get that message on my switch constantly, not
entirely sure why..
That said, console into your PUB and sub and verify networking is up and
running
$ show network eth0
Verify it has an IP address, verify it has a gateway. Make sure routing is
also setup properly.

Are you familiar with the vmware settings?
Are you using bridged mode?
Do you have a network interface configured for that VMware network on your
host PC?
If all of your network settings seem ok, then are you
