Any thoughts..
I’m simulating a PUB failure in my VM lab with 6.1, does the DRS restore
mechanism make it reach out to the existing subscribers during the restore? I
have 1 PUB and 2 SUB in the scenario.
If it does reach out, can I do it isolated, ie just build the PUB on it’s own?
What's
Hi,
Is set up a simple scenario for call from HQ to 911 on pstn.
HQ region : G711 within
HQ Phone Location:48kbps
HQ GW Location: none
call will fail. What I thought is when just one location, it should treat
none as unlimit. but it's not a case.
CCM traces shows it deal with none as 80Kbps,
Your call is failing because HQ phone to GW is G711 which requires 80Kbps
yet your location on the phone is only 48kbps.

Uncheck it for whenever you invoke an IPIPGW or CUBE. That means a call from
CCM - BACD and also CCM - CUE.

In this situation:
CME GK CCM
If the CME H323 IP Address is defined in CCM then the CME settings are used
to route the call onwards. If the CME¹s H323 IP is not defined then the
Trunk¹s settings will be used. That¹s the way it¹s implemented.

That's very interesting. So, by this logic, I should be able to delete the
H323 gateway on CUCM in order for the gatekeeper to be used as the inbound
call transport for on-net calls from CME - CUCM. So long as the inbound
CSS on the gatekeeper has access to the partion containing HQ and BR1's
It doesn't make sense to me. call from location with restriction should go
through location none. there should be no BW location.
Hope SB has some explanation on this.
Maybe Vic can help us on that

No not missing anything. All discussions on voice are now held here in
a more consolidated place. EverythingIE is still in beta and not quite
open to the general public as of yet.

Cool. I can live with that. I do have a feature request, though... on the
onlinestudylist.com webpage, I can get to the archives which is great, but I
would love to see a search engine that would allow me to search through them on
a keyword of my choosing.
I just passed the Voice IE
Vik,
I know this might be a bit overly academic, but I'm wondering; what is
the reasoning for this priority? It sounds like an H323 gateway has a
higher priority than a gatekeeper connection. Is there a specific reason or
logic for this?

The new v3 equipment blueprint says Any major software release which has been
generally available for six months is eligible for testing in the CCIE Voice
Lab Exam.I wonder if anyone has considered this as a possibility yet.
Does this mean that they are going to keep the software current?
That¹s the way its implemented. They use the H225 source address as the
first priority and the RAS source address as the second priority. I¹m not
even sure if this is by design- I¹ve never seen much documentation regarding
this matter. I would hate to speculate on the reasons why it is this way.
Brian,
Is the written exam still focused on 4.x?

HI,
Nope. Only the other way. Only if a sub dies will it get the DB from the pub.
If the pub dies you have to reinstall the SW on the pub then restore from the
backup file. Keep a record of the IP address, hostname and probably IP
addresses and passwords.
