For future releases of the Open Source SHELX, I am planning to provide
precompiled binaries only for Windows, Linux and IntelMac from now on.
This would save me a lot of hassle because I can then use the Intel
compiler throughout and would no longer need to take the idiosyncracies
of other FORTRAN compilers for the IBMMacs into account (IBM no longer
support their own compiler that I was using up to now). The current
IBMMac binaries would continue to be available for a couple of years
but without further updates. Alternatively IBMMac users, like the
surviving SGI users, can compile the programs themselves; however as
before I reserve the right to release only binaries and not sources
of new algorithms that have not yet been peer reviewed (like a PDB
deposition; some people actually read my code). If this would cause
major problems please say now or for ever hold your peace!
