The Northeastern Collaborative Access Team (NE-CAT), located at the
Advanced Photon Source at the Argonne National Laboratory near
Chicago, is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate
position. This is a two year appointment beginning as soon as
possible. In addition to opportunities to conduct independent and/or
collaborative crystallographic research at the nation's largest
synchrotron light source facility, the primary responsibility of the
incumbent will be to enhance NE-CAT's beamline sample automounter
program, including upgrades and maintenance of the existing systems
and providing training and support to users. The research and support
activities will require occasional evening and weekend work, shared
with other staff members.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, or the equivalent, in
biochemistry, chemistry, or physics with considerable hands-on
experience in macromolecular cryocrystallography, ideally using
synchrotron light sources. Good mechanical and software experiences
are desirable assets. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills
in working closely and successfully with diverse groups of beamline
users and other staff members as well as good communication skills,
both oral and written. The incumbent will work under the direct
supervision of the NE-CAT Operations Team Leader.
