Structural biology of ion channels by cryo-EM Starting Salary £27,084 – £32,324 Band Salary £27,084 – £39,873 MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology Two Pfizer-funded Investigator Scientist or Postdoctoral Scientist positions are available, for a period of 3 years, to work on the structural biology of mammalian ion channels using the latest technology in single-particle electron cryo-microscopy. You will work under the supervision of Group Leaders Dr Sjors Scheres and Dr Chris Tate. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated with a track record of working on integral membrane proteins and expertise in at least one, and preferably more, of the following areas: over-expression in insect or mammalian cells, membrane protein purification, and electron cryo-microscopy structure determination. Candidates must be self-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills are decided assets. The successful candidate will be appointed as either Investigator Scientist or on a MRC Career Development Fellowship/MRC Postdoctoral Training Scheme for a three year period. MRC Career Development Fellowship/MRC Postdoctoral Training Scheme is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientists who have recently completed doctoral studies or are moving into a new research discipline. Starting Salary and position appointed to will be dependent on research experience.
