Postdoctoral Position: molecular structural biology of mechano-signalling
cascades in muscle

** This position would suit an excellent candidate with ambition to transition
to a team leader position **

We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our laboratory at
the Department of Biology, University of Konstanz, Germany. Our laboratory
studies the molecular mechanisms underpinning the architecture, stress
response, adaptation and disease process of striated muscle. The successful
applicant will work on profiling the cellular pathways that mediate the
communication of the contractile sarcomere with other cellular organelles in
function of mechanical activity. The work will involve the identification of
new pathway components and the development of molecular tools to test
mechanistic hypotheses both in vitro and in vivo. We apply an integrative
approach to structural biology that combines a rich variety of biochemical,
biophysical, computational and structural methodologies, with emphasis on X-ray
crystallography. The work benefits from access to excellent experimental
facilities and a highly interdisciplinary collaborative environment.

The position is available for 3 years in the first instance.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry or related
discipline and have a strong background in protein expression/purification,
biophysical or biochemical characterization of protein samples and
macromolecular X-ray crystallography. Experience in nanobody affinity binders,
analysis of macromolecular complexes and/or cellular signalling will be of
distinct advantage. Good command of written and spoken English, the ability to
work in a team, and good communication and organizational skills are required.
A publication record including first author manuscripts is expected.

Application

Applications should contain the following documents in PDF format:

1. Applicant's CV
2. Copies of original degree transcripts displaying marks obtained
2. A statement on how the applicant’s profile matches the position
3. Contact details of two referees

Informal enquiries and application materials should be submitted by email to:
