I believe the original Amiga file system also used a linked-list approach. That way you could, theoretically, reconstruct a file from any one of it’s data blocks. Richard Sent from Mail for Windows 10

There’s a piece of core on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/DEC-Digital-H214-Digital-Equipment-Core-Memory-Litton-38540-1/111384040291 which claims to be H214. The interesting thing is the label says 8K x 16 but the silkscreen says 8K x 19. Sent from Mail for Windows 10

A few of the self-tests I’ve seen on the 147s set BRDFAIL if the NVRAM doesn’t pass, so perhaps changing the NVRAM for a known good would be a place to start. Richard Sent from Mail for Windows 10

I’m just going to guess (I have no experience with this architecture) – would that mean either file corruption – or possibly the last record needs to be padded out with “empty” blocks to be the same size as the others?

The Technical Reference for the original IBM PC has schematics - "Logic Diagrams" in the appendices, including the monochrome monitor. That pre-dates the PS2s of course but they may be similar. Usual cautions about discharging the anode on the CRT before you poke around in there. Richard
