I have just shy of 40 RL02 packs, and a few of them had bad scratches rendering them useless. Therefore, I attempted to open them in a non-destructive way, just to see if it was possible. So far, I haven't had much luck. Also, I noted that while all the packs I attempted were DEC (not clones), they did have slightly different construction and mechanics, probably based on production date. - Earl

I'd love to have one of the radios from my youth, most notably the Zenith Transoceanic H500. It was circa 50s tube set with push-button band selection and a circular dial. Solid as a rock, too. It was portable, and received quite well with it's built-in telescoping antenna. My radio hobby led me to electronics, which led to TTL digital logic, then to computers. It was a smooth ride. Amateur Radio was part of the journey, too, including packet radio. - Earl (73 DE KB6JIV)

Examples include the XT-CF Lite for PC compatibles with ISA slots (which I use), and the CFFA3000 for the Apple II. I do keep backups though, and luckily I've got a small stash of CF cards, so if they die, oh well. - Earl
Digital "we C.A.R.E."
Hi all. I'm hoping you can help me solve a minor mystery. I have a magnet with the DIGITAL logo, and underneath the logo, it says "we C.A.R.E.". I have no idea what that means, and Google searches have not helped. I'm assuming it's some sort of service or technical assistance program? Anyone heard of it? Thanks! - Earl
Re: IBM S/32, PDP-11/60+RL01, PDP-11/34, East Lansing MI
I'm on the other side of the country or I'd be all over this. Someone please rescue this equipment. The thought of it going to the scrappers is, well, brutal. Aren't PDP-11/60s kind of a rare beast? - Earl
