VT52 keyboard question

2017-03-13 Thread Marc Howard via cctech
Hi, The "2" key on my VT52 is very hard to use. You've gotta pound it and you might get 2 "2"s for your trouble. I assume that the keyboard switch is made of unobtanium (If you know of a substitute chime in) so I'm thinking of swapping it for the "COPY" key which I guess is useless unless you

Need captive panel screw for unibus mounting

2017-06-08 Thread Marc Howard via cctech
I need (1) of the 8/32 x 1 3/8 captive screws that are at either end of a unibus backplane to mount it to the chassis. I've looked online and not only are they expensive (~ $10.00/ea) but you have to order 5 of them at a time. I'm hoping that there's someone on the list that has one to spare

VT52 stand

Does anyone on the list have or have seen the stand that DEC sold with the VT52? I'm just curious; does the stand screw into holes on the monitor or does it just sit on top? >From what I've seen before it just looks like an office chair base with a top that is the correct size. Thanks, Marc

Hi, I bumped into an old friend of mine today. We both talked about a pair of machines we worked on that no longer exist as far as we cant tell. They were both Adage machines and had the same base digital architecture. Their names are Ambilog 200 and AGT-30. The Ambilog was the predecessor to

Need picture of power supply mounted in 11/40 cabinet

2021-12-04 Thread Marc Howard via cctech
Hi, I've got an 11/40 I'm going to start working on. Problem is that there are two power supplies (H742 and H7420) that came with it but neither was mounted in the rack. Could someone post/send/etc. photos of how the power supply mounts in the rack? Also how is the power cabling routed (I

Re: DECTape head problem

The problem would be the non-standard track size and number of tracks. However if at least one of the head's paired tracks is good you could potentially cut the drive current in half and double the read amplitude and just use one track for the affected channel. Marc On Mon, Feb 7, 2022 at 12:33

8 track tapes use 1/4" wide tape. Most 8 track units use heads with only two tracks implemented. There was a stepper solenoid that moved the head down (or up after all 4 stereo programs were played). Growing up in the 60s you never forget things like listening to In-A-Gadda-Da_Vida fade in the
