Eso me ha pasado cuando tengo algun firewall (no windows) habilitado.
Usualmente dan falsos positivos y los bloquea

Bueno el problema va un poco mas alla puesto que he intentado conectarme
desde pgAdmin al servidor de PostgreSQL que tengo en una VM e igual me
cierra la conexion pasado 5 segundos, alguna idea de que puede estar
sucediendo?

Has intentado hacer un scaneo de puerto desde otra máquina CentOS con:
Nmap -O ip_maquina_donde_no_funciona_ssh
Debería aparecer el 22 como abierto.
Tienes habilitado Selinux?
Esta el servicio ssh activo?
El Firewall que trae Cent0S, esta activo?

conectarme por SSH solo que al cabo de unos 10 seg o un poco mas como
maximo se me cae la conexion al servidor, el SSH por supuesto que esta
activo :) y en el iptables el puerto 22 esta abierto aceptando conexiones

Ya miraste el programa SELinux esto cierra muchas cosas del servidor hace
días me paso con varios servicios de tcp.

vmware-install-tools.pl -d' it seems to do all the usual/right things. Once
completed there is no 'vmware-tools' listed in 'chkconfig --list'. A reboot
of the box leaves vmware
