[CentOS] Guidance: compile education

This question may not belong in the Centos.org list, but I do want to compile against this distro. Please advise. The question: Can I be pointed at methods to learn to compile source against a distro. I have software development background (but too long ago to be specifically useful;

Bare metal Centos 6.5, vncserver running, client able to connect with perfect resolution. Nvidia GT240, driver 331.49. Upgrade to Centos 7 with nouveau basic driver, all still works fine. Resolution poor on wire connected monitor, but perfect on vnc client session (1920x1080). Upgrade

[CentOS] Evolution 3.8.5 imap iCloud will not connect

There is a problem in Evolution 3.8.5 due to changes icloud made to their servers. It disallows imap connections due to authentication issues. The following link to gnome.org indicates that a patch is available for Evolution 3.10 (the problem does not occur in 3.12).
