Hi all,
I am testing ceph because I found it is very interesting as far as remote
block
device is concerned.
But my company is very interested in big data.
So I read something about hadoop and ceph integration.
Anyone can suggest me some documentation explaining the purpose of
ceph/hadoop
I tried to stop monitor thru “#service ceph -a stop mon.3”, However, after a
while, the monitor is still in the cluster. I only see document to “remove
monitor”, can Ceph support just stop monitor?

Hi,
Please check the documentation for operating the Ceph cluster:
http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/operating/
Specifically, for stopping all monitors you can use:
sudo stop ceph-mon-all
And to restart all monitors, you can use:
sudo start ceph-mon-all
If you want to
Thanks Ashish. It returns result as below
[root@jf-n1 ~]# stop ceph-mon id=0
stop: Unknown job: ceph-mon

Hi All,
I have a four node ceph storage cluster. By default all the storage objects are
replicated in Ceph.
My installation consists of three OSDs. If I create some volumes as block
devices in ceph and write some data
onto it, how to verify or test that the data is replicated ? Is it by

I think the content in FAQ section can be gathered from maillist. I
often see many similar questions each week/month. And some answers are
great!.

Depending on what level of verification you need, you can just do a ceph
pg dump and look to see which OSDs host every PG. If you want to
demonstrate replication to a skeptical audience, sure, turn off the
machines and show that data remains accessible.

You need to re-initialize the disk after replacing it. Ceph stores
cluster information on the disk, and

The source code bits have been flipped, the ticket tracker has been
