Generally, if the services are running the pages work, so the services must
not be running.

We've had bad installs before, for no apparent reason.  If you check these
items & it still doesn't work, then I'd uninstall and try again, paying
particular attention to any directory modifications or pointers you are
making.  Also, if you uninstall, you may have to go in and physically remove
the pointers (described below) in IIS to get a 100% clean re-install.

1.  open IIS and stop and restart the server

2. if the .cfm pages don't work, re-open IIS, click on the Home Directory
tab and the Configuration button near the bottom right.

Check that the extensions .cfm, .cfc, .cfml, .jsp, & .jws point to some
drive:\some directory\coldfusionmx\runtime\lib\wsconfig\1\jrun.dll

if there are multiple pointers in IIS (coldfusionmx\.....\2\jrun.dll, etc.),
delete the extras (you can sometimes get these from repeated failed installs
and many point to nowhere)

If that's the problem, correct it, stop & restart the site and test again.

When you say you can't get to the Administrator, does the page fail or are
you locked out?

Subject: CFMX woes

I've justr installed CFMX on a new box and can't get to the adminsitrator.
in fact, any CFM files wont run.  I am sure the services are running.  I
could pull up an html file or any other file, but not a cfm file, so I know
IIS is running fine.  anyone know what might be goin on?
