Just curious on the makeup of the list participants...are we mainly
employees of companies using CF or are there any hosting companies/ISPs in
the group?

If you don't do php then you may have some limits but tbh I haven't found
anything that there is not a plugin for.
The other big advantage with foss is the constant updates. But then
disadvantage is popular foss getd attacked more often too.

Most system admins will block outgoing traffic on port 21 which is the
default FTP port. I've run into the same situation with other clients
several times and this is the case. The reasons for them doing this though
varies to bandwidth monitoring or ensuring emplyees are working and not
playing.
