You may want to look at throttling down CFMX sending out mails to AOL or
MSN
and some of the other larger mail providers

With CFMX I it wasn't necessary as it was in previous versions.Maybe it's
time to bring it back.
My IT guy who has dealt with similar AOL issues has indicated that he never
got a clear answer from AOL

You have to change your serverID they block the header that says "Cold
Fusion Application Server"

I was actually referring to mail sent by non-CF means.
I've been told by a friend that they've had problems sending mail to AOL.
I believe they're pasting a comma-delimited list of addresses into a
TO, CC, or BCC field.
