multiple identical requests

2013-05-17 Thread Chris

We are seeing multiple identical requests from apparently one HTTP GET
request to a .cfm page. It's almost like the user rapidly entered the same
URL and parameters 3 to 6 times.

In one case, according to Fusion Reactor, 3 identical CF threads were
started at exactly the same time (down to 1/1000th second). So that's not
likely the user.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

thanks,
Chris

FileExists() stops working

2013-05-17 Thread Les Irvin

Weird. Last night I did the latest hot fix update to Cold Fusion on the
server and now all my FileExists() tags are failing. Could be totally
unrelated, of course, but does anyone know what file the FileExists() code
resides in (I assume somewhere in CFIDE)? Perhaps that particular file got
corrupted during the hot fix.
Thanks in advance,
Les

someone thinks that could make a difference, please let me know.

I also set incredibly long timeouts (like 2000 minutes) on the database
 connection, to test Russ's thought.

Neither changed anything. The routine stopped inserting records after about
 the same amount of time.

Anyone else have any thoughts on what might be happening, or how I might

There isn't much code to show, since it's really just one line, but here it
 is:
 cffeed action=read source=#arguments.url#
 query=local.qFeedData /

(and I get the same error even if I hard-code arguments.URL to the correct
 URL)

Does CF have the ability to access RSS feeds that are locked behind
SharePoint? Does it require some configuration we may not have set up
(either in CF or on SharePoint)?

 This is on ColdFusion 8.

 Thanks!

now is getting overwhelemed by a denial of service attack going on
for the last week and ramping up quickly - it was freezing a few
times a day at first but now has been freezing a few times an hour.
more than 99.9% of all of my traffic now has this user agent:

 Opera/9.80 (Windows NT 6.2; Win64; x64) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.15

but it comes from many different IP addresses and only goes to 1
page on my website. The ips are from all around the world. Mostly
outside the usa but a lot inside as well. This page allows a few url
variables and they are changing the url variables trying to do sql
injection. The page doesn't insert anything into a database but does
read a database. It is protected with cfqueryparam and luckily I had
 no database corruption..

I found a way to keep the server up - it worked for an hour straight now:)

I moved the page (which has a few big querries) to a new address
and changed the links in my menu system so people and google can find
it.. and replaced the old page with a 404 error page that says the
page was moved. (in case a real person tried it..they can see it. but
hopefully this botnet will see 404 and think it is not there any more).

If they move to another page I will have to just sacrifice anyone
else using that browser and block it on the entire server.

They are also trying to log in with remote desktop to the
administrator account (which I always disable and has a lockout
 policy for 3 wrong passwords).

Anyone else have this problem or a better way to fix it? They are hit
that 404 page about 10,000 times in the last few minutes but that 404
page takes up .0004 seconds compared to .01 sec for the real page so
the server seems ok with the load.

BTW: I have been using Power Admin server monitor - which restarts
the cold fusion service when it
 freezes...
 http://www.poweradmin.com/servermonitor/
 http://www.poweradmin.com/servermonitor/
cool tool - this is how I found out about the remote desktop attack -
it monitors the event log as well as disk space and web!

Geargian Dates??

2013-05-17 Thread Brook Davies

Hi Guys,

I am interfacing with a webservice and the dates returned are in Gregorian
format. For example I get back:

{ts '1582-10-04 16:00:00'}

How do you convert Gregorian dates into something CF can use and format?

Re: Denial of service

2013-05-17 Thread Dave Watts

They are also trying to log in with remote desktop to the
administrator account (which I always disable and has a lockout
 policy for 3 wrong passwords).

RDP (or SSH for that matter) should not be exposed to untrusted
networks. If you're running a public web server, and someone runs a
port scan from a public network, they should see TCP/80, TCP/443 if
you're using that, and that's it.

RE: EXT :CFGrid

2013-05-17 Thread Huff, Jerome P (IS)

So it turns out that it was my fault not the hotfix, I somehow lost the mapping
to the CFIDE for this IP addrees in IIS. All is now well with the world.

Since applying the latest hotfix, cfgrid applets no longer appear on my web
pages, on the production server. If I view source, the call to
/CFIDE/scripts/ajax is there, but no applet appears. Anyone have any idea how
to correct this?

Thanks,

RE: Need RegEx help for unknown/odd characters.

2013-05-17 Thread Che Vilnonis

Nathan, the problem is that within the feed itself, the characters don't
have accents. When output to a browser, they funky chars display on screen
with odd geometric shapes like an upright rectangle. They're like odd ascii
chars that I have only seen a few time before. In the end, I can't insert
them into the MySQL db.

How about making sure the charset is set properly. I have seen this kind of
thing when not setting to UTF-8. This can be a problem either on the
ingesting, or when the feed is written.

Re: Problem with CFFTP LISTDIR

2013-05-17 Thread Kris Jones

Some firewalls will not provide system info, which is requested by listdir
to properly output the results from the listdir command. You can typically
see a more verbose message for this in the FTP log. It will usually say
something like sysinfo X unrecognized, etc.

If you run into this, there is really no way around it with CFFTP that I
have found. I ended up leveraging the jakarta commons library directly to
get timestamp info off of file instead.

Cheers,
Kris

Not gregorian date. Gregorian is a kind of calendar. Do you mean julian? Or
simply mmddhhss format?

There is no gregorian format as such, but dates in the gregorian calendar.
All dates nowadays are in the gregorian calendar, since end of XVI century.
