Re: (ot) FarCry upgrade to 7.x
Any reason youâre not looking at Mura or ContentBox? Â There are great responsive options for both and both are exceptionally fast once content caching is turned on in production. Â Joomla is powerful, but overbuilt, bulky and can be tricky to customize without forking the core. Wordpressâ plugin and short tag architecture is inherently flawed and makes adding any advanced functionality to a large site very, very slow unless you either a) throw hardware at it or b) implement a multi-level caching strategy. Â If you decide on a PHP CMS, ExpressionEngine is, IMHO, the best. I havenât used FarCry since version 5, so I canât speak to that anymore. Â I responded to another post comparing Mura and ContentBox, though, a few weeks ago. Â In short, if you want ease-of-use, Iâd pick Mura. Â It also has some great contemporary responsive templates. Â If you want customization, Iâd pick ContentBox, though. PresideCMS is another CFML CMS option (which is also Coldbox Based). Iâve been meaning to download it and play around, but just havenât had time. Â You can get up an running pretty quickly with CommandBox, though: Â https://github.com/pixl8/Preside-CMS Jon On February 12, 2015 at 12:24:31 PM, Uwe Degenhardt (cf-t...@sdsolutions.de) wrote: Hi everybody, I know that there a are some guys out here on the list using FarCry. Re: (ot) FarCry upgrade to 7.x
It's gotten MUCH better with the transition to 7.x (I'm sure the Daemonites are off for the day). The front end templates are now responsive, the dreaded site tree is now completely revamped. The entire admin interface got a much needed redesign. If you're already invested in it I'd go with 7.x. -- Matthew Williams Geodesic GraFX Hi everybody, I know that there a are some guys out here on the list using FarCry. Thanks to you and Dave. I'll be trying this with Railo today to see if it works for both. Re: CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS
After playing with it a bit more I added this: httpErrors existingResponse=PassThrough/ Now I just get a blank page. Am I successfully passing it through to cf? Hard to tell. I was hoping to have made a bit of progress. On Mon, Feb 9, 2015 at 6:38 PM, Matt Robertson websitema...@gmail.com wrote: Mark, those two threads aren't exactly a linear set of to do steps. Re: (ot) FarCry upgrade to 7.x
Unless farcry has some specific features that WP doesn't or you want to customise it heavily in CFML then i'd go with WP. Joomla is a more powerful CMS, but it is a clunky, unfriendly, hard to use monster.
