I'd be interested. I've only been doing CF for about 5 or 6 years,
but may
be able to help a little. I've built a couple of micro content
management
systems, but nothing portable like phpnuke. It'd be really great to
see
I think
on of the biggest problems in a portable system will be the
standard use of
a database. If going with open source, I'd recommend PostreSQL over
something like mySQL.
A portable system should run on all databases. So either your very carefull
about field names and the type of SQL
reasonable
stable
on windows and has some decent third party admin GUIs available.

suggest that
you could probably help a lot.

I agree with the standard use of an open database.
I'm curious as to why you suggest PostreSQL over MySQL.
Its great for small-scale sites but it lacks quite a few features (like row
level locking) that you really do need if you are building a larger site.
That said, the code I am looking at

... I have been programming CF for 42 years... back then it was
called ForTran (Formula Translation).

A portable system should run on all databases. So either your
very carefull
about field names and the type of SQL you write, or we'll need a database
abstraction layer too.
Most, if not all I'd have to double check but at worst the number of queries
that aren't external is minimal, of the
I will do it.

Just a little FYI - Evolt.org is currently working on an open source content
management application. You might talk to them over there and see where
they're at and perhaps avoid re-inventing the wheel . . .
