Request scope variables only exist for the duration of a page request. They
don't consume RAM like Application variables do. And are ideal for what you
are using Application vars for.
Best defined in Application.cfm as it is executed before all other
templates: eg:
cfsilent
cfapplication
scope is perfectly suitable. Just declare
them in the Application.cfm so they are available to all page requests.

You can not reference the application
scope from inside OnsessionEnd.
Yes because by the time OnSessionEnd (or OnSessionEnd.cfm) everything
has finished.
Application.cfm (fired first - before any other template) -
OnRequestEnd.cfm (fired right at the end).
Get your hear around that before you
What do you want to persist? Do you want it to consume RAM? Is it just like
a DATASOURCENAME var? If so why scope it beyond request?

Well the request scope does not, as they say, consume memory as it is used
for the request (top to bottom) and then it is gone.
Of course you could use App or Ser vars. But why? No locking required (even

In ColdFusion, there are only 2 external libraries we use. Zip Image
With ColdFusion 8 there will be none.
Um CF8 is as much java supported as 6 and 7. What are you trying to
say (without breaking NDA)?

I have to agree in-so-far - yes I am using CF8 (RC). That was my only
statement. I must add I was in the top 25 for bug submissions for
pre-RC release for CF8 also.

be ridiculous. You really need to contact a distributor like
RocketBoots to get a fairer deal. Yeas Adobe software is too expensive
compared to US prices but do not be afraid to question this with an
authorised reseller.

like I've missed anything by having Standard.
Looking for some recommendations, especially if you have gone from Standard
to Enterprise previously and the why and was it worth it.

Yes the software price difference is hard to fathom. Adobe are amongst
the most expensive - almost outrageously so - I mean nearly $1000 for
Dreamweaver CS3? Windows Vista is also vastly overpriced here.

I believe the CF8 LSDS are the grunt behind the great new PDF

The beta? You should be using the Release Candidate.
I'll have to play. But even with playing with the Beta and reading the docs,
I still missed this so I thought I would share.

is a different version named RC the public is not privelage to know about
it.
