experience and they are sharp, we are willing to train a couple.

Job Description:

*TOP SKILLS: *

1) MPP (Massive Parallel Processing) database experience – Shared nothing
architecture; database analytics (Teradata, vertica, greenplum, Sybase IQ)

2) Unix/Shell programming

3) SQL – programming language

4) ETL – no specific tool (ab initio, informatica etc)

5) Data modeling: design a database know the tables/structures needed
(previous experience from a DW team would be great)

Hadoop is the futuristic platform (currently using greenplum). With big
data technologies, the individual will be able to stay on the team longer.
Someone who does not have this experience is OK, but want someone that is
interested in moving in this direction; reading/dabbling with it at hope –
this is an opportunity to bring someone’s career to the next level.

*THE PROJECT: *

This team is building a next generation marketing/digital analytical
platform. Every time a JPMC ad is used, a record flows into the database of
this particular team; they are leading with billions of records. The goal
of this is to determine which advertisements are working, demographically,
geographically, page placement effectiveness etc. Internet marketing is
cutting edge and very exciting. Someone who can take the data and
understand it – this is a great team to be on and have exposure to this.
The information captured by this group will transform into management
dashboards that are very visible among executives.

*DAY TO DAY/Additional notes:*

• Will be working with the business- write documents, read/analyze them and
design a solution à take the solution to proposal with the business and
determine course of action from there

• Design tables – ETL processes, load data, scripting --- will be building
the solution from end to end – Ingestion to loading the data.

• Will be responsible for unit testing and writing implementation plan

completion – they will be the POC/SME. Need someone with strong
communication skills as they will be on meetings with the business. Must be

come up with design.

The role is heavy in software design, development, testing, implementation
planning, and communication – but operating at the application level. I
don’t need architects making PowerPoint slides and driving technology
strategy – we have people that do that (like me). So I don’t architecture
is the right word. Application design and development is more appropriate.
At best this is application architecture.
