Subject: Change Seminar, May 28: Where the Message Meets the Mobile
To: <change@change.washington.edu>

Hi All,
Please join us next Tuesday!

*When*: Tuesday, May 28, 12pm-1pm
*Where*: CSE 203
*Who*: Trevor Perrier
*Title*: Where the Message Meets the Mobile
*Abstract:* In this talk I present data from a two year SMS based mHealth
study in Kenya. Using data from a semi-automated bi-directional messaging
platform the talk focuses on messaging patterns and trends based on SMS
delivery reports, participant responses, and baseline technology use. For
example, what percentage of messages are actually delivered? How does this
change over the course of two years? Who responds to messages and how much?
Does this change over time? This detailed look at data from the system will
give you insights into how SMS based mHealth interventions can be designed
to maximize reach and reduce costs.

*Bio:* Trevor Perrier is a graduating PhD student in the ICTD lab in the
Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering. He has worked
closely with UW Global Health for the base seven years on five deployments
of a custom built semi-automated bi-directional SMS platform for mHealth in
Kenya.
