I went to Brentwood Auto on a friend's recommendation after a minor
accident. I asked them to fix a few things and to also change the oil.
They gave great customer service and were fast. Except.two weeks
later my check engine light went on. On a hunch from a previous
experience with that warning light, I took it to Jiffy Lube to check to
see if the oil needed changing. They showed me a Jiffy Lube oil filter
still in use in my car from three months before that, meaning Brentwood
Auto never changed my oil, but they were sure to charge me for it.

Not a terrible experience, but that makes me hesitate to recommend
 Brentwood Auto in the future.

  Avery,

I'm an ex Porsche guy! I wouldn't trust that wonderful car of yours
 to
  anyone
but the authorized Audi dealer. Obviously the typical grease
 monkeys in
most of the little independent shops around can't even figure how to
 put
  the
bottom cover back on properly. It's too valuable a car to trust to
 just
anyone! Do yourself and the car a big favor and let the Authorized
 Audi
  Dealer service it!

If you live in the Abell area you might have seen my little blue Audi
 TT
around. I've never owned an 'expensive' car before and I had no idea
when I bought it it would take such special care. Anyway, here's the
 story.

Took the car to Jiffy Lube up near Towson. The next day I was on 83
when the underside of the car fell off on the freeway. A great guy
friend of mine shoved it back up into its placeholders but it looks
 like
maybe there are screws missing... I want to take it somewhere that
knows something about Audis (or at least European cars) to have the
bottom put back on properly. Sure won't be taking my car to Jiffy
 Lube
 anymore. :(

I'd also really appreciate hearing from anyone that has advice on how
 to
take care of a car like mine generally, but the body shop/oil change
 place recommendation is key.

 Thanks everyone!

i have been going to brentwood for close to 30 years. i'v noticed a decline
since the brother in law came on board. many good mechanics left as a
result. there was a mechanic named mike who left. he was the best of the
best. he opened a shop in towson/timonium area. i have an appt with
brentwood monday, to have maintenance work done and 'timing belt' change.
since my car used to be eddie's, i tell myself everything will be ok. maybe
since i'v been with brentwood so loong, no problems (except for conflict
with the bro in law), have occurred.
does anyone know anything about ' DJ's', down the street from brentwwod?

I too went to Brentwood on the recommendation of a friend. It was after
our
Subaru dealership closed and I was to told Brentwood had Subaru
experience.
I went in for a major service which included the change of the timing
belts.
After that service, performance and gas mileage went far downhill. I
returned to Brentwood on 2 separate occasions to rectify the performance
and
fuel economy problems.. Each time I was charged for additional parts and
service. Neither time did it improve to even close to what it had been
prior to their original repair. I took the car to another shop described
the symptoms and the first thing they asked was if the timing belts had
been
changed. To make a long story short...the second repair facility fixed
the
problem first try...Brentwood had installed one of the timing belts one
 tooth off.

Please propagate this message to everyone you think might be

the Baltimore International Rhythm FestivalThere
is a real possibility that there will be no Rhythm Festival this year. Several
things have contributed to this state of affairs. First, BIRDS' financial
resources are the lowest they have been in nearly a decade, too low for us to
feel comfortable proceeding with our usual festival design. In addition, my life
has changed and I am not available to play a major role in the organization
anymore. Lastly, it is time to start planning for this year's festival and for
the first time in ten years there is no team in place to tackle the job.
It is possible to design a festival with the meager resources we have
available but a good sized crew with the heart to do it will have to materialize
and commit themselves to the task with in a month or so to have a reasonable
shot at doing it. We need volunteers to help with
publicity and marketing, permits, a vendor and volunteer coodrinator, a program
director and a festival director to work with me to help pull it all together. (About ten
people are needed)So here's my plea. If you love the rhythm festival and
want it to continue; if you're a task orientated person who is comfortable with
responsibility and enjoys working collaboratively, an opportunity exist right
now to make a difference. A few hours a week steadily applied through the
Spring, a bit more during the Summer. August and September does tend to get a
little hectic. We need your help to save the Rhythm

[Chat] scam

2005-03-03 Thread jdy

i had an interesting phone call
thurs. someone called, sounding very official, urgently stating he
needed to talk with my mother. he refused to tell me what it was about
until he got permission from my mother. after going ar'd the mullberry
bush, i arranged for him to get this permission and NOTHING
else.
turns out, he claims he is from a MRS
Associates, which is, according to him, a financial institution. he claimed my
mother had an unpaid bill which needed to be resolved. what was scary was he
knew all my mother's previous 4 addresses, including one i had never heard of.
he stated there have been charges and payments up until
july'04.
i informed him my mother had no
charge accounts. he claimed they were from "citibank-sears". i'v never heard of
this. he insinuated that if my mother didn't make those charges then they must
have been done by me or my daughter. bottom line, he wanted to give me the
unpaid balance so i could " WIRE" him the money. i informed him i would have to
talk with my attorney first. this made him very angry. he yelled, your lawyer
has nothing to do with this. i then yelled back at him and hung up.

i plan on calling the attorney
general's office fri.
watch out for any phone calls by
someone named "John Jervey" assistant dir of operations with MRS
associates.
the number he gave me was
1-877-774-7994---ext 3100. my caller i.d. listed the number as being
1-856-488-2198 or 2187. this exchange was in new jersey. i'm trying to do a
reverse lookup with the phone number but no luck yet. i really want to get this
bastard. somebody is going to fall for this and wire him money. maybe i should
have played along to get more info. live and learn.

Can anyone recommend someone to work on

 Dear Charles Villager,

The CV Light Up The Night program would be DE-LIGHTED to provide you
with
two FREE CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) BULBS to use on your front and
rear
porch. The BULBS are being offered WITHOUT CHARGE to all homes in the
Charles
Village Community. We will even install the BULBS for you! This is a great
way
to keep our neighborhood safer and friendlier and the price is right! The
only
way it could be better is if you also got cash to take them! Forget that!

The CFL Bulbs use one-fourth of the energy of a standard incandescent BULB
of
the same wattage. That means you can light it twice as long and still use
only
half as much electricity as a regular incandescent light BULB. You will
also
find yourself climbing the ladder much less often to replace your porch
BULB.
These BULBS generally last up to thirteen time longer than an equivalent
 incandescent light BULBS!

By saving you both money and ladder time, we hope this BULB will encourage
you
to KEEP YOUR PORCH LIGHTS ON AT NIGHT! By just flicking on your light
switch
at night, you can help keep Charles Village safer. The better lighted our
neighborhood streets are the fewer shadowy places for the forces of
darkness
 to hide.

We do it all! The only thing we can't do is come over every night and turn
them on for you! The only things you have to do are sign up for your
BULBS,
and then TURN THEM ON AFTER DARK.

 It's that simple!

If you'd like to be more involved in this project, we could sure use you
as a
volunteer to distribute BULBS. We would appreciate it very, very much if
you
would spread the world to neighbors on your block who haven't gotten the
word
about this program yet. Perhaps you could organize your entire block, or
part
of your block, or perhaps a group of your immediate neighbors.

Then call us with your list of those who would like the FREE BULBS.

Contact us to sign up for your FREE BULBS or with any questions about this
 program.

Either reply directly to this email notice or call:

 410-662-0446 (Richard Johnson)(Arjay)
If necessary leave a phone message.

 Let us know the:

Name(s), Address(es), Phone Number(s), One or two BULBS desired?

Wisconsin Considers Legalizing Cat Hunting

A woman in Madison, Wis., shows
her opposition to reclassifying feral cats as small game
  animals.

  Talk About It: Chat

MADISON, Wis. (April 12) - Feline lovers holding pictures
of cats, clutching stuffed animals and wearing whiskers faced-off against
hundreds of hunters at meetings around Wisconsin to voice their opinion on
whether to legalize cat hunting.
Residents in 72 counties were asked whether free-roaming
cats - including any domestic cat that isn't under the owner's direct control or
any cat without a collar - should be listed as an unprotected species. If listed
as so, the cats could be hunted.
The proposal was one of several dozen included in a spring
vote on hunting and fishing issues held by the Wisconsin Conservation Congress.
The results, only advisory, get forwarded to the state Natural Resources
Board.
Statewide results were expected Tuesday.
La Crosse firefighter Mark Smith, 48, helped spearhead the
cat-hunting proposal. He wants Wisconsin to declare free-roaming wild cats an
unprotected species, just like skunks or gophers. Anyone with a small-game
license could shoot the cats at will.
At least two other upper Midwestern states, South Dakota
and Minnesota, allow wild cats to be shot - and have for decades. Minnesota
defines a wild, or feral, cat as one with no collar that does not show friendly
behavior, said Kevin Kyle with that state's Department of Natural Resources.
Every year in Wisconsin alone, an estimated 2 million wild
cats kill 47 million to 139 million songbirds, according to state officials.
Despite the astounding numbers, Smith's plan has been met with fierce opposition
from cat lovers.
Critics of Smith's idea organized Wisconsin Cat-Action Team
and developed a Web site - dontshootthecat.com. Some argue it is better to trap
wild cats, spay or neuter them, before releasing them.
In Madison, about 1,200 people attended the Monday evening
meeting at the Alliant Center - more than the 250 or so in a typical year, but
less than the 3,000 or so who took part in a debate in 2000 over whether to
allow hunters to shoot mourning doves.
One of the attendees was Katy Francis, who wore cat ears,
whiskers, a cat nose and a sign that read, ''Too Cute to Kill.'' For Francis,
''The cat hunting thing brought me out because it was very extreme.''

Hey all: I apologize if you have already received a similar message, but
please consider helping out your hood by putting a couple of hours in at the
festival selling beer, helping with kids games, etc. If you would like to
sell beer, contact Bob Welch at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Kids games-Saturday
only? Let me know by replying here.

ALSO would you be willing to have a festival sign in your yard or window?
We will put it there and pick it up so let me know.

We really need your help so please get in touch. thanks, Dawna Cobb

No, I'm not moving. An elderly friend is moving into a nursing home and

friend stopped at a pay-at-the-pump gas station to get gas. Once she
filled her gas tank and after paying at the pump and starting to leave,
the voice of the attendant inside came over the speaker He told her that
something happened with her card and that she needed to come inside to
pay. The lady was confused because the transaction showed complete and
approved. She relayed that to him and was getting ready to leave but the
attendant, once again, urged her to come in to pay or there'd be
trouble. She proceeded to go inside and started arguing with the
attendant about his threat. He told her to calm down and listen
carefully:
He
said that while she was pumping gas, a guy slipped into the back seat of
her car on the other side and the attendant had already called the
police.
She

this is crawling under women's cars while they're pumping gas or at

Mine got picked up late in the evening. Because of
the late pick-up, I noticed that someone took about
half of what I had initially put out prior to it being
collected. I can only assume that it was someone who
wanted the cans to recycle for cash, but it kind of
disturbs me that someone is going through my trash.
If that's not why it was taken, I'm concerned that
what I put out may not get recycled. Has anyone
 encountered this problem?

For the 11th Annual Rhythm Festival, known this year as the “Rhythm
Gathering.”
The 11th annual BIRDS Rhythm Gathering will be held on October 1, 2005, at
St. John’s Church. It will start at 2:00pm with a drum circle jam
outside of the church, and go through midnight.
Part of the philosophy of a “gathering” rather than a festival is more of
an intimate feel, and also a true gathering of the Baltimore area community of
drummers to participate in the festival themselves—not just attend. This
community is a unique drumming community: it is rich, diverse, and draws people
from many surrounding areas.
During the day, we have a Dunun drum workshop with Urban Foli, Jaqui is
back with Drum for Joy!, Zaipo will be rocking the house with his African dance
workshop, Ken Krampton will be working with the children for a kids workshop,
and more. Workshop prices will be available soon. All day long there will
be marketplace vendors (drums for sale!), a Kid’s Corner sponsored by Port
Discovery, beverages and food from Yabba Pot.
The evening will kick off at 6pm with all of you onstage, showcasing your
local stuff to the community, and then the evening performances start at 8:00.
We will be joined by Egyptian Sun Belly Dancers, and to top it off, Urban Foli
will end the evening performance night with a BLAST as we then move into the
community drum jam until midnight. Mama Kibibi Ajanku of Sankofa Center
for Cultural Enrichment will be enriching our stage again this year with her
presence as master of ceremonies during the open mic and performer portion of
the evening. Admission to this is $10 for the whole evening. Bargain!
If your group is interested in performing on stage during the open mic
portion 6:00pm-8:00pm (there are 12 minute time slots for performances) please
E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with
your group’s information/description/what you stand for, and cc Mark Cello at
mchello@ bellatlantic.net for your sound needs for your portion. We will
work out a schedule and mail it out to those interested.
How is the Rhythm Gathering different from and the same as the Rhythm
Festival?
1. There will not be a street festival with the street closing. The
gathering will happen on the “lawn/parking area” of the church during the day
and inside the church (workshops).
2. There will not be an outdoor stage during the day, but the drum circle
will take place all day outside on the lawn/parking area. There will be some
food vendors and a few marketplace vendors.
3. The evening concert will have 2 parts: a “planned” community open Mic
and scheduled performers. Would you like to be on stage? Please contact
us!
4. There will be the usual ROCKIN drum circle after the performance, the
usual until midnight!

How is the Rhythm Gathering different from and the same as the Rhythm
Festival?
1. There will not be a street festival with the street closing.
The gathering will happen on the “lawn/parking area” of the church during
the day and inside the church (workshops).
2. There will not be an outdoor stage during the day, but the drum
circle will take place all day outside on the lawn/parking area. There will
be some food vendors and a few marketplace vendors.
3. The evening concert will have 2 parts: a “planned” community open
Mic and scheduled performers. Would you like to be on stage? Please
contact us!
4. There will be the usual ROCKIN drum circle after the performance,
the usual until midnight!

 Dawna,

This e-mail that you forwarded fails to give the date of the marathon,
so I looked elsewhere on the internet. It is Saturday, Oct. 15. And I
see that Odette had the same question as I did.

 Greetings
This is the boy who cried wolf last year and managed to have many of you
up bright and early to see that we had no supplies delivered for the water
stop.

I made a call the day after the Race and told the Race Director, Dave
Cooley, that I was very embarrassed and disappointed.

I have been in contact with the Marathon folks directly, as Water Station
Captain, and we are set.
 However…

I NEED A VOLUNTEER FROM THE AUDIENCE TO ORGANIZE THE WATER STOP ON RACE
DAY SINCE I AM RUNNING!!!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE THIS THE HAPPENING STOP ON THE RACE!
We anticipate that the first runners will be on Guilford Avenue just
before 10 AM!
I AM PLANNING TWO SHIFTS :
1ST SHIFT 7AM to 11AM WOULD SET UP, POUR WATER, AND BEGIN HANDING OUT
WATER TO RUNNERS
SECOND SHIFT 11AM to 3PM WOULD HAND WATER TO RUNNERS AND COLLECT CUPS
AND BAG TRASH TO CLEAN UP.

John Spurrier will be back, acting as DJ, playing tunes to lift the
spirits of the runners as they struggle to complete the final 3 miles of
their journey.

We would like to see as many Charles Villager People as possible in the
3000 block of Guilford handing out water or simply offering encouragement,
cheering those runners on!

[Chat] non profits

2005-10-06 Thread jdy

hi all,

I'm a bit confused. happens sometimes.
I remember being at community meetings where there was big opposition to
the expansion of parole probation. one of the reasons given, if not
the biggest reason given, was that there are to to many non profits in the area.
made sense. after all non profits do not pay property taxes.
I was reading the benefit district news letter, or whatever it is called. I
noticed an area which was welcoming new residents/businesses to the
neighborhood. a couple of the new neighbors were NON PROFITS. I don't
recall any meetings to oppose these new non profits to the area because there
were to many non profits. can any one out there shed some light on this for
me?
thanks in advance Judy

 Hello, folks,

Yesterday Steve accompanied me to the District Court on
Wabash Ave. to help me contest the ticket I got for
allegedly obstructing traffic on Guilford Ave. at about
10 PM on a Tuesday night.

The officer didn't appear, and the case was dismissed!

I was ready to argue that I didn't deserve the ticket.
I had a letter signed by Dave Barnett, and Steve was
there ready to testify as a witness. But it wasn't
necessary. I do want to offer thanks to Steve and
Dave for their help. I also want to thank Dana Moore
for offering me advice about how to present the case
and suggesting some Do's and Don'ts.

This all was such a waste of energy brought on by probably
nothing more than a police officer in a bad mood.

While I may have technically violated the law, I think
it was inappropriate for the police officer to give me
a ticket for causing a very minor inconvenience.

The demeanor of the officers was inappropriate.
The officer who issued the ticket spoke to Steve
in a very aggressive tone, ordering him to move back
and threatening him with arrest when he did nothing
threatening. I had to ask four times if
I was free to go after they gave me the ticket.

Should I write a letter to somebody to complain about
the treatment? What do Chat List subscribers think?

 Hello, neighbors,

After the CVCBDMA Board meeting, I drove back and gave Steve Gewirtz a
lift. Steve and I both live on the 3000 block of Guilford, and I
stopped across from his house, right before the intersection of
Guilford and 30th. We chatted for a little while about politics, then
Dave Barnett drove by in the opposite direction, on his way home I
assume. I hadn't seen him for a while, so we both rolled down our
windows to talk. Then I saw a police car pull up behind me, with
bubble lights. Dave moved on, and I pulled my car closer to the side
to get out of the way. The police gave me a $50 ticket for impeding
the flow of traffic. I was really surprised because I was in the car
the whole time, with the hazard lights on, and I moved almost as soon
as I saw someone behind me was trying to get by. Certainly when Dave
moved, I believe the police could have gotten past me.

The police starting ticketing me right after I turned the corner and I
let Steve off. Steve asked the officer what the problem was, and they
told him to back off, gave him a 5-second warning. That seemed a
 little harsh.

I think I remember hearing recently that Dana Moore was given a ticket
when she was stopped out in front of her house loading or unloading
from her car, and that the judge threw it out.

I'm planning to tell the judge I'm innocent, and Steve says he'll come
 with me.

Does anybody have any thoughts about this situation? It seems kind
of extreme. I feel like I should have been entitled to some signal
like a honk or yelling move along before they decided I was
 blocking traffic.

Last night I went for the first time to something
called the World Tour of the Banff Mountain Film Festival here in Salt

March 10th. The Banff Mountain Film Festival takes place in
Canada at Banff every fall, made up of movies from all over the world about
outdoor sports and recreation. Then the best films of the festival go on
tour. This year's tour includes movies from three to 50 minutes about
skiing, mountain climbing, cliff climbing, paragliding, whitewater kayaking,
base jumping, biking, and others. Plus there was a very funny
mock-documentary about the excesses of consumption and materialism among the
American super-rich. I'll paste in below the info for March 10th

TRADITIONAL CAPITALISM -- You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.
Your herd multiplies, and the economy grows. You sell them and retire on
 the income.

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You sell one, and force the
other to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when the cow
 drops dead.

FRENCH CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You go on strike because you want
 three cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You redesign them so they are
one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk.
You then create clever cow cartoon images called Cowkimon(tm) and market
 them world-wide.

A GERMAN CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You re-engineer them so they
live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves.

A BRITISH CORPORATION -- You have two cows. Both are mad.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION -- You have two cows, but you don't know where they
 are. You break for lunch.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You count them and learn you
have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count
them again and learn you have 12 cows. You stop counting cows and open
 another bottle of vodka.

A LUXEMBOURG CORPORATION -- You have 5000 cows, none of which belong to

A HINDU CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You worship them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You have 300 people milking
them. You claim full employment, high bovine productivity, and arrest the

AN ARKANSAS CORPORATION -- You have two cows. That one on the left is

ENRON CORPORATION -- You have two cows. You sell three of them to your
publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your
brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an
associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax
exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred
via an intermediary to a Cayman Island company secretly owned by the
majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your
listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with
an
option on one more. Sell one cow to buy a new president of the United
States, leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the
release. The public buys your bull.

Subject: [Chat] Wanted: Handyman/Carpenter/Advice

 Hi Folks,

My front porch is in serious need of attention. I'm thinking about
replacing the rotten boards (tongue and groove) with new boards or if
that's too complicated, replacing the entire front porch.

Does anyone know a carpenter/handyman who can do this type of job?

Has anyone ever done this? If so, how complicated is it to replace
individual boards - is it even do-able?

 Thanks!!

 Didon

[Chat] John's place

2006-05-03 Thread jdy

A new establishment will be opening on Greenmount av. called John's Place,
next to the People's community clinic. It will be a coffee/tea house. Remember
the "coffee houses" of yesterday? We've always complained about the lack of any
decent businesses on Greenmount av. Here's our chance to put our money where our
mouth is. There will be jazz, poetry, Internet service so students can study.
Think "Xando" on Greenmount Av. Take a walk up there and look in the window. I
couldn't believe what I saw and it was on Greenmount. It is beautiful.

In the alley, between the 3100 blk Guilford and Abell, there r 3 groups

I ran into an environmental worker with the CVCBD. I asked him about it.
He stated nothing could be done since it was a privately owned can.
After a bit of back and forth with him he finally said he would look at

Re: [Chat] Nectar of the gods

when r u having a 'nectar of the gods' tasting party?
Judy

On 07/24/2013 09:17 AM, Stephen J Gewirtz wrote:
Recently, I read /Cooked /by Michael Pollan. In that book, Pollan
talks about four methods of cooking: fire (grilling), water
(braising), air (baking) and earth (fermenting). It was the last
method that was something new to me, and I decided to try it.

The first thing I tried was making kim chi (Korean fermented
cabbage). That is still in progress. I tasted it after a week, and
it still needs more time, but I liked it and my wife did not. BTW, kim
chi makes quite an odor for the first two or three days of fermentation.

The next thing I tried was mead, the nectar of the gods. Mead is an
alcoholic drink obtained by mixing raw honey with water and letting it
ferment. My first try used some honey that had crystallized, and I
mixed it with water and let it sit for a week getting yeast out of the
air. Then, I corked the bottle it was in. It did ferment, and it has
a kick to it (the alcohol). But I prefer what I got next.

My second attempt, which is much tastier, was to take raw honey that
had not crystallized (available from Woolsey Farm at the farmers'
market) and to mix it with water and a tiny amount of instant yeast.
Specifically, I took a pound of honey and mixed it with enough
filtered water (you can also let the water sit overnight -- you need
to get rid of the chlorine) to make almost two quarts total, plus 1/8
teaspoon of instant yeast (the same as I use when baking bread -- I
would guess that other yeast would also work). I let it sit in the
bottle uncapped for about 3 days, then capped the bottle, opening the
bottle twice a day to release the pressure building up from the carbon
dioxide developed by the yeast and the sugar in the honey. After two
or three more days (taste it), I had a superb tasting drink which gave
me a bit of a buzz. Now, the bottle is in the refrigerator.

The bottle I used is a stainless steel growler, i.e. a reusable bottle
made to be filled and refilled with beer from a microbrewery. I
believe that it has just become legal in Maryland for some
establishments that sell beer to fill growlers, but I have not tried
getting a growler filled. The growlers I got came from Williams Sonoma.

I have not yet tried it, but you can also add blueberries or other
fruit to the mead to give it more flavor as it ferments.

some of them are doing is getting an account number from a BGE bill in
order to put through a change of supplier even if you tell then that
you do not want to switch. Moreover, BGE may charge you to switch back.

In the last two days, two people have come to my door asking to see my
BGE bill. My wife and I have told them that we are not interested and
have not gotten out our bill. I recommend that others do the same.

Some people may save money by switching suppliers, but if you are
interested in doing so (and I have not bothered), you should be able
to find the information online. Also, alternate suppliers send out
enough ads in the mail. What I notice in the ads that come in the
mail is that to lock in a lower rate, I would have to agree to a one
or two year contract. That includes the offers from Constellation
Energy (BGE's parent company) that claim to lock in a lower rate. I
have no idea whether switching actually will save money over the
length of the contract.

BTW, I have a security door that I do not open when I speak to someone
going door to door. That door is locked, and I cannot open it unless
I get the key out. A key is kept near the door but out of sight for
fire safety in case anyone ever has to get out of the house, and
another key is in my pocket, but I will not open the door for anyone I
do not know. I got the door a number of years ago, and it has been a
very worthwhile investment.

If you do not have a security door, be extremely wary of opening your
door for anyone you do not know.

I received an email showing products to avoid giving to dogs.
Unfortunately when I try to forward it appears as an attachment. If
anyone is interested in seeing the products, email me and I'll forward.

I just saw this posted online, so I thought I'd send it around here as
well:

Located in Charles Village, Baltimore, MD.
Found tonight 12/5 around 10PM.

Medium/Large Black Dog. Very sweet and obviously comes from a home!!

Holding onto her until we can locate the owner, but as college students,
we can only keep her until winter break!

Subject: Northern District Crime Alert !

 Good evening everyone,

Northern District Officers responded to two armed robberies this
morning just after the stroke of midnight.

The first robbery occurred at 12:05 am in the 3800 block of Hickory
Ave. The older adult male victim was walking home from a local bar when
he was approached by two male suspects both approx. 5'11 wearing all
dark clothing and black ski masks. The victim could not identify what
race the suspects were. The suspects demanded the victim's property.
When the victim replied that he didn't have anything, he was then struck
in the head and face by an unknown and then fell to the ground. One
suspect went through the victim's pockets and stole cash and personal
items from him as the second suspect pointed a handgun at him. Both
suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim suffered
a cut to his face.

The second robbery occurred at 1:17 am in the 400 block of Notre Dame
Lane. A young male college student was walking home from Loyola
University when he was approached by a b/m approx. 6'00 wearing a grey
hoodie. The suspect then put him in a headlock. The victim tried to
break free and get away at which time a second b/m suspect wearing a
black hoodie grabbed the victim and forced him to the ground. The first
suspect then pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim's property.
The victim then gave the suspects his book bag. The

Re: [Chat] Package stolen!

Tweefie and I have had encounters with Officer Class. He is very helpful and seems sincere. On 11/26/14, Emil Volcheckvolch...@acm.org wrote:Hello, neighbors,A thief stole an Amazon package this morning from my front porch onthe 3000 block of Guilford. Officer V.A. Class took a report and saidthat the Northern District is aware of the problem. He took the issueseriously and talked to our neighbors, who got an Amazon order thismorning too. They were home to receive the package, but I was atwork. Officer Class said they've received reports of differentdescriptions of package thieves that don't match, so they figure thereare more than one of them. It didn't sound like the Northern Districthas a plan to deal with this.I contacted Amazon, and they'll replace the package, no extra charge.Thanks,--Emil-- Emil Volcheckvolch...@acm.orghttp://EmilVolcheck.com/___Chat mailing listChat@charlesvillage.infohttp://charlesvillage.info/mailman/listinfo/chat_charlesvillage.infoarchive: http://www.mail-archive.com/chat@charlesvillage.info/
