Those are not original Chevelle braces. They look like something someon
fabbed up.

Style has nothing to do with proper fit. It all comes down to one
factor;correct backspacing. On a 64-65,to run a 15x8 wheel,you need at least
4.75" backspace in the front and 5" in the rear. With those numbers, you can
probably squeeze a 275 tire on the rear and maybe a 245 on the front. A

Backspacing on a 15x7 rally is 4.5 inches, and a Corvette fitment 15x8 is
3.75 inches.

Most after market wheels will fit over stock disc brakes. The back spacing
is the same for 14, 15, or 16, I would go 4 to 4 ½. You do want to go
to a 7 to 8 wide wheel. Any rim that will fit a 69 Camaro with disc brakes
will fit fine on your car. Next Swap Meet you go to measure a disc brake
Dan- How wide the wheels you can run depends much on the style you choose.
Most any 15x6 will fit, but 7s can rub and 8s usually have to be custom
made.
Years ago I had a set of 15x7 rally wheels all the way around on my 64 with
255/60/15s on them. The wheels were 70’s era Monte Carlo wheel
You should always use the D/A in the un-lock setting.
Also to avoid large grinding marks I'd use 80 grit paper.

Dan, I'm not sure on BS, someone will have that info. But you need to go with
15's if you are going to disc brakes upfront. Also you can go as wide as eight
inch with no problem. My best guess on BS for a 15 x 7 would be 4".
