be of interest because of the GCC version, which is 5.1.
CPU: AMD FX-8320E 8-core, 3.2 Ghz

So it appears that whatever is causing apply-test.scm to hang is not yet
fixed in GCC 5.1 ... :-( . However, everything was fine with Clang:

Hi, Release candidate 4 builds without incident on Debian Wheezy. I also installed the numbers and parley eggs without issue. I even compiled and have been running a packet capture program without problem. Linux hibou 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.68-1+deb7u2 x86_64 GNU/Linux It also builds on MS Windows Vista with automatic updates and a fresh installation of MinGW (both 32-bit).
