This weekend, an old friend (a lecturer in economics with a keen interest in
Churchill), posed a question that has me stumped. Did Churchill receive two
salaries whilst Prime Minister (one as PM and one as Minister of Defence)? My
friend has been posing this question to Churchill experts and afficianados for
quite some time but to no avail (I can't recall if he approached the Archives
but he did mention that the Archives has Churchill's bank statements). I
promised I would post the question on this forum. If any of our learned
subscribers can provide an answer or supply any further information I would be
most grateful.
