Thanks to our FH editor and other correspondents : it is now clear that
there was an omnibus edition with the title _Captain Hornblower, R.N._
published before 1941.
Therefore WSC would have been able to read all three Hornblower books in
succcession.

1939. One of these was called Captain Hornblower.
