There's a storm brewing off the coast of Massachusetts that's threatening the
future of wind energy for the entire country. In the face of global warming,
there are a few powerful forces giving the cold shoulder to what could be
America's first offshore wind farm - mostly because they believe it would
blemish their million-dollar views.
The Cape Wind project would offset up to 113 million gallons of oil and would
be like taking 175,000 cars off the road to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Even though more than 80% of Massachusetts residents support the project, a
select few, including Senator Ted Kennedy who's compound would face the wind
farm, are standing in the way of progress and jeopardizing the entire effort.
That's why we've hit the airwaves and targeted the opposition with television
ads aired all across New England. If you haven't seen these ads, check them
out.
But this fight isn't just local. We need YOUR help to get Congress on track
and make offshore wind a reality.
Tell Congress to blow off millionaire complaints and do what's right for the
country.
TAKE ACTION!
As we look for ways to combat global warming and increase renewable energy,
the answers really are blowing in the wind! We need your help to show even more

I was just as shocked as you were last year when Iceland announced they were
going to restart their commercial whaling program. Well, I'm happy to tell you
that at least for this year, the commercial hunt seems to have come to an end.
When Iceland announced that they were issuing a permit to hunt 39 whales
including 9 endangered fin whales, I couldn't believe my ears. Last year, the
Icelandic whalers killed 7 minkes and 7 endangered fin whales, only a fraction
of their quota. But around the world, more than 100,000 activists have
pressured Iceland in the wake of their whaling efforts, and it seems to have
worked - at least for now. With almost no market in Iceland and fears that the
meat might be contaminated with toxic chemicals, the hunt has been a disaster.
They still haven't made the results of the contamination testing on whale meat
public, but they can't seem to convince anyone to buy their whale meat
regardless.
Iceland has said they won't issue new permits until the market conditions for
whale meat improve and they get permission to export whale products to Japan.
Well, I've got some news for the Icelandic government: there's no market for
whale meat in Japan either. Japan is having trouble selling the thousands of
tons of whale meat it already has in storage from its own Southern Ocean
"scientific" hunt.
Since the Icelandic government is ready to admit that there isn't any market
for commercial whale meat, they might as well face up to the facts: there's no
legitimate scientific reason for killing whales either.
It's time for Iceland to hang up those harpoons for good!

found Roy Beck and Steve Hampton to be good activists in setting our goal about
the boarder. One thing is I am not ready for integration due to the NEW WORLD
ORDER being
established without one word to our congress or even addressing the American
People, and instead he lies, and goes ahead with his un-
American activies. and the other citizens of their country as well. Believe me
it is not conversation just about jelly beans and chocolate...they are actually
implimenting the plans for a new continent made up out of America,Mexico and
Canada.
I find that most internet folks are not for this. So we can still accept up to
2,000,000 citizens from other countries per year, but that does have a limit on
it. Jobs are being lost all over the U.S. We must try to get our jobs back on
a level and stop outsourcing them and selling out our country.
I heard this week there are several bill in the works (by probably Bush) he
just won't give up his promise to the Bilderbergs and the NAU..that is what he
wants for his legacy. But I say legacy will have to be less than what he is
done for our country.
Not much.
The name Roy Beck is identified with this issue. Not the Republican Beck on
CNN.

Elections: He says he's consistent on border, despite varied remarks
AUSTIN Two years ago, Sen. John Cornyn said a border fence was a bad idea.
Last month, he voted to build one.
Critics accused Mr. Cornyn of pandering to his Republican base. The senator
said he has been consistent in his goal of securing the border.
The squabble over the border and illegal immigration is expected to intensify
as the first-term senator steps up his re-election campaign next year.
The debate underscores a larger political dilemma for the GOP, especially in
Texas: Will a hard line on immigration help win elections in the short term but
damage the party's prospects of attracting growing numbers of Hispanic voters
in the future?
"If Senator Cornyn's short-term goal is to get re-elected, then he's taking
the right step," said Gregory Rocha, political scientist at the University of
Texas at El Paso.
"But in the long term," he warned, "there are others outside of that base who
are growing greater and greater in number."
In California, a Republican-backed ballot initiative in 1994 that denied
illegal immigrants most public services turned large numbers of Latino voters
against the GOP and fueled Democratic gains at the ballot box.
"The fallout from Proposition 187 definitely damaged Republicans," said John
Pitney, a professor of political science at Claremont McKenna College in
suburban Los Angeles.
Federal legislation to build a barrier between Texas and Mexico to stem
illegal immigration has become a flashpoint in South Texas, where most
officials say it would disrupt commerce with Mexico, infringe on the property
rights of farmers and ranchers and send a signal of intolerance.
In recent years, Mr. Cornyn repeatedly said a wall would be impractical and a
waste of money.
In 2004, he said that "we cannot and should not...
A lot of people see Cornyn as a hero in the last senate amnesty fiasco. I
dont see it. Hes playing CYA. For several years hes introduced legislation
to integrate us with Mexico and their border security and have us pay for
all their improvements. His same bill language was included in the last senate
bill.
