Dear Steven:
Sorry I did was not able to get my answers in. I am suffering from a very bad case of an allergic reaction to either poison ivy or something that I must have come in contact with while I was boarding up my windows for Hurricane Rita.
It is driving me up the wall. I have not been able to do much on my campaign for the last week. I am going to have to back to St. Joseph Hospital later on today. I am so fucking upset that Medicaid did not approve one of the drugs that was prescribed for me last week (Zyrtec). They are going to wind up paying more because I am going back to the emergency room as soon as the buses start running around 5AM!
That is what is so fucked up with the USA right now! We have a government spending billions & billions of dollars on a war in Iraq while people are going without healthcare.
That is why I told The League of Women Voters that I support the creation of EARTH(Every American's Right To Healthcare)!
Healthcare should be the #1 priority! I'm gonna get my heathcare! If the US Govt. has billions & billions to be spending on a war in Iraq and billions & billions to be giving away in welfare to Israel every year, then we have billions & billions to pay for healthcare for every American!

Dear James Partsch-Galván:

The Houston 80-20 PAC was formed to mobilize the Asian Pacific American (APA) community to participate in the political process.  Our organization has an objective to educate APAs by providing forums to discuss issues pertinent to our community in Houston.  We also review candidacies of individuals seeking public office and by our endorsement persuade up to 80% of the APA voters to bloc-vote for our endorsed candidates.  The APA voters are generally independent and given a platform that addresses the concerns of the APA community, they will mobilize to support a candidate that best supports those concerns.

In 2001 and again in 2003, Houston 80-20 PAC examined the candidacy of individuals seeking City office and made endorsements in the city elections.  We believe we played a significant role in the election of Mayor Bill White and reelection of Mayor Lee P. Brown, utilizing volunteers, translated materials and other resources to "get out the vote."  We aim to provide this same kind of support to our slate of endorsed candidates.

Since you are a candidate for an at large council member position, we would like to consider you for possible endorsement.  Please discuss your position on the issues listed on the attached questionnaire.  We would like to receive your response by email on or before Friday September 23. We will compare your responses along with those of other candidates in your race and conduct interviews, to clarify your positions.  Steven Pei (Subcommittee Chair At Large # 3) will be your primary contact.

Any endorsement made by Houston 80-20 PAC will involve a periodic review of your position statement after the election as well as reviewing the involvement of APAs in the decision-making process.

Please email your completed questionnaire to:
            Houston 80-20 PAC
Steven Pei (Subcommittee Chair At Large # 3)

If you have any questions, please contact Steven Pei on 832-228-1161.  We look forward to receiving your completed questionnaire.

Sincerely,

AJ Durrani
