Replying here (but did not reply in YouTube). There is only 1 way to edit subtitles and that is if they were in a properly formatted udvd, txt, sub , or srt file AND are loaded on a "subtitl" track. Captions that are actually embedded in the media can not be edited; they would have to be graphically modified using sketcher or something like that. Also, although I do not have any media to test this, supposedly you can use the ffmpeg command line to extract the "closed captions" into a .srt file. Then if that .srt file is formatted as expected by CinGG, it could be loaded to a subtitl track and easily modified. Hi, Good to hear from you, I've been kind of busy. It always would be good to know more generally "what is the use scenario?" That is to say... what are you doing with this stuff? Cinelerra can be useful to compose and edit subtitle data. The operation you seem to be asking to be created is a sort of "load" function that will inject an existing subtiltle script into a cin5 session. I can do that. But... to what end? if you intend to edit this result, then the code will be useful, but if it is just to convert it to udvd format, I suspect you can already do just that. The easy way for me to do this is to create a simple standalone program that reads the srt subtitle data and an existing cin5 xml session file, which will inject that data into a new subtitle track on the timeline. Hello and thanks Phyllis and Igor, I find the Cinelerra subtitle editor very good, even much better than many applications dedicated to the exclusive creation of subtitles. Only I miss being able to see these in the preview, but hey, you can work perfectly with them and I do not think it is necessary to see them either. To convert .udvd to .srt or .ass is as simple as: ffmpeg -i subtitle.udvd subtitle.srt or ffmpeg -i subtitle.udvd subtitle.ass without any problem. my favorite is .ass because you can easily customize how they will look. What I think needs to be improved is the wizard to load or save to navigate to where the file is to load or save... it is a bit tedious to have to enter the path by hand. I know this is a copy and paste of the address, but this for a beginning person is a difficulty. Thank you both very much for the interest.
