Ya, gotta open it up. Take the top off and can't miss it.

Where is the SD card? I’m guessing you need to open the chassis to get at
it?

Hello Everyone,
We have an issue we are trying to track down with a IPv6 BGP peer. The
session resets randomly sometimes 4-5 times a day and sometimes doesn't
reset for several days. We are trying to run a monitor session to mirror
the traffic of the port to another port for the purposes of
great news.

This worked! I pulled the SD card, slotted into a linux laptop, renamed
the "good" ios file to the "bad" name, slotted the SD card back into the
920 and booted it up. Came up like a champ. Then, corrected my mistake
and of course ... removed "no service password-recovery" so that doesn't
bite
Hello,
If possible, replace SFP transceiver or try to use monitor-session on interface
for capture traffic.
By my opinion your IOS XR version isn't good and "raw", try to upgrade. At the
end this year expected 7.3.x, but I'm waitin 7.4.x
Guess this command was viewed and nothing

Hi Scott,
You may also try and sniff to see if a 920 looks for a boot server during the
process.
Another long shot ..but before making a new coffee table out of it it's worth a
shot.

Also great suggestions, but to no avail. 0 packets input on either side. :(
I might be stuck with having to reboot one or both of these devices if the SFP
re-insertion doesn't resolve it.

That's definitely worth a look, thanks.

Yeah, I've also had weird experiences with the ASR, but the difference here is
that the port is up on both sides, and consistently comes up when the interface
is shut/no shut, whereas in every instance we've had such weirdness, the port
would not come up at all on the ASR. Definitely not ruling
I'll second that one -- check the ASR920. I've seen instances where I
needed to physically remove the SFP, wait a minute, replace it, wait a
couple of minutes and then things came back up.
On the power front, we had a 920 (12SZ) at a remote location that had
several brown-outs, and then lost
Ah, great suggestion, but it's not the 889 days thing (uptime is only 17
weeks). That said, this does remind me again that the ASRs are sometimes
finicky about interfaces going down and require the occasional reboot to fix.
The only reason I'm shying away from the ASR as the problem is because
Maybe it’s not the NCS? If your ASR920 was unaffected by the power event, and
it’s been up for 889 days, is it possible you’re seeing this?

Hi again,
We have an NCS540 (IOS-XE 7.1.1) where an unexpected reboot occurred the other
night, which also highlighted my inability to log in via direct console in an
earlier thread. I have this router connected directly to an ASR920-24 via 10G
port, both using the same optics, 10G-LR. Between
Ok, so it’s essentially adding in something like an iptables entry. Is there
any need to use an ACL on the VTY lines anymore when using the peer config? I
personally like the ACL instead because then I don’t need to define the peer
addresses on every port I want access from, but maybe I’m doing
I believe the bootflash is an SD card inside, you could pop it out and see
if you can modify it on another asr920 or device, renaming the new filename
to the one it's looking for. Long shot, but who knows, might work?
